“Marta Maas-Fjetterström is for the rugs what Picasso has been for art in the 20th century”. Says Anette Granlund, Swedish Antique Expert on textiles.
A vintage handwoven modern rug and a beautiful early example in muted tones on gren background with medallion pattern. Handwoven in a famous pattern called “Dukater” that was first composed in 1924 by Märta Måås-Fjetterström atelier. This is all about greens, yellow, brown and pink tones. Good condition. Cleaned and with new reconditioned ends.
The working weavers in MMF atelier at Båstad also used to make rugs for themselves. Märta Måås-Fjetterström allowed and encourage the weavers to manufacture there own carpets for personal use. Therefore its not allowed to put a signature. But its still a MMF carpet and one of my personal favourite.
