This beautiful sculpture by an unknown artist, depicting a Ndebele. Despite of occasionally mistakenly attributed to Carl Hagenauer is it undoubtedly a masterpiece. In earlier times, the Ndebele wife of northern South Africa, would wear copper and brass rings around her arms, legs and neck, symbolising her bond and faithfulness to her husband. The richer the husband, the more rings the wife would wear.
