Modernist design circa 1950s three legged iron fire pit. Consisting of a thick iron bowl with a welded iron ring intended as a handle attached to the outside rim of the fire pit and is supported by three detachable tubular iron legs. The fire pit has been treated with a high temperature rated ceramic based flat black paint. Designs such as these were used in Modernist homes and were made popular by the magazine Arts & Architecture during the Case Study House Program of the late 1940s to 1950s. The publication showcased the new designs in architecture, furniture and home accessories by the leading architects and designers of the Post War period.
