This Ikat textile originates from the Island of Timor, Indonesia. It is hand-woven using naturally dyed yarns via a method passed on through generations. This textile is know as a “Tais” – meaning woman’s skirt, usually worn in dance performance or ceremony. It is tubular for ease to be worn as a waist skirt (sarong) by the tribes people of the island. A wonderful textile to be hung on a wall or draped over a table to bring color to any space.
