This Ikat textile originates from the Island of Sumba, Indonesia. It is hand-woven using naturally dyed yarns via a method passed on through generations. It features a stunning array of distinct tribal patterns and motifs. Motifs include chickens & horses, both animals are highly prized by the Sumba people. It is the woman of Sumba who are gifted with the skills and patience to craft these wonderful textiles. Ikats are known to take many months sometimes years to complete. A very elaborate and detailed piece of craftsmanship.
