A sizable stoneware pitcher produced by Rörstrands, Sweden, 1940s. Designed and signed by Gunnar Nylund, (Swedish, 1914-1997).
Nylund served as artistic director at Rörstrands, where he worked 1931-1955. Prior to his work at Rörstrand he was a well-established ceramic artist in Denmark at Bing & Grøndahl, and later founding ceramic workshop Saxbo, in partnership with Nathalie Krebs.
Nylund is stylistically similar to other ceramicists such as Axel Saalto, Carl-Harry Stålhane, Wilhelm Kåge or Arne Bang.
