A one-of-a-kind semi antique Anatolian prayer rug featuring a carefully constructed arch design, framing at its base the depiction of a mosque that stands under a large pendant lamp and between two grand columns reaching into the ornate crown of the arch. The arch itself is decorated with vertical, elongated cartouches that are placed in the piers and spandrels very neatly, each of which depicting a single cypress tree that symbolize the one-ness of God in Turkish Islamic culture. The inner border that is connected to the field and outer border with detailed, dainty guard strips is also very unique in that it seems to depict a whole other town setting with its mosques, gardens and tombstones in much smaller scale and less color detail. Since this is a prayer rug, it evokes a strong sense of other-worldliness and peace.
The rug has an amazing color story that is very appealing and brings greater focus into the kind of small detail that it depicts.
It is very finely hand-knotted with even medium wool pile on wool foundation, in very good condition, sturdy and as clean as a brand new rug (deep washed professionally).
