An wonderful example of a west timor ikat textile. It is hand-woven using naturally dyed yarns via a method passed on through generations. It features a stunning array of distinct tribal patterns and bright colours. The outter bands feature chicken motifs, which are common amongst Timorese ikats. Textiles such as this one are prized for their immaculate tribal patterns that are intricately and delicately crafted to perfection. It takes many months to complete a single textile such as this one, with painstaking attention to detail & patience. It is the women of Timor who are gifted with the skill required to compete such a fine work.
