Vintage Design
A delightful note: Hollyhocks are a common sight on the streets of Amsterdam, where it’s tradition to plant them at home entrances, bringing a touch of nature’s charm to the urban landscape.
The legacy of the bases of the lamps, the Royal Delft White, date back to the 1930s. Amidst the economic challenges of the era and the impact of the Second World War, the once-thriving market for hand-painted Delftware transformed. The Delft White series, with its utilitarian yet artful designs, shifted focus from intricate paintings to the vase’s unique shapes and how they reflect the light. By the late ’60s, the collection boasted over 174 creatively shaped models. Production ceased in 1976, leaving only the iconic tulip vases in continuation of the Delfts Wit tradition.
