Vintage Design
This large Brutalist table lamp is from France, 1970s. It is well made in cast brass, showing great similarity to the work of Swedish artist Sonja Katzin (1919-2014). It was made with great eye for detail, crafted with notable quality. The base is relatively high and has a tapered shape, giving this piece a very elegant appearance. The sand cast brass base nicely shows the imperfections of the crafting process, featuring smoothly tapered vertical lines. The three-dimensional character of these well-chosen details, is emphasized by the shadow effect on its surface. A small sphere-shaped brass element makes a refined detail on top of the cast base. It is the connecting element for a thin brass rod, holding the well proportioned shade. The lamp is in very good condition, with a subtle patina, making this a beautiful and luxurious addition to any modern interior.
