Aulenti made this table lamp called Poveglia for Vetreria Vistosi. An Italian manufacturer specializing in decorative lighting made of blown glass. The lamp consists of two separate parts. The round and transparent base, which is marked on the inside with a blue made-in-Italy label, has a notch. A yellow hood is attached to the base by a cold connection and shows a beautiful murrine drawing. This murrine technique is one of the most complicated and time-consuming techniques. The artist first coats a center rod with a variety of colorful glass liquids. This rod exhibits rainbow cross sections when thin parts are sliced transversely. The blown and formed objects are rolled over these cross sections while they are still hot. These cross sections are arranged on a surface. The rainbow fragments adhere to the object’s surface, giving it a remarkably attractive appearance. All around the world, murrine glasses are highly prized and appreciated. Another name for it is “millefiori”.
ConditionThe condition of the lamp is very good and has an E27 fitting.
