An absolutely gorgeous pair of pedestals in the Art Deco taste, they are second production pedestals made during the second-half of the 20th century. Each is crafted using vividly grained dark marbles that are stacked and organized to create a skyscraper effect, this contrasting sharply against the brilliant nearly translucent green onyx.

Situated just below the horizontal plane where sculpture would be presented is a bas-relief plaque on each pedestal depicting a pair of stylized dancing maidens raising an overflowing basket of fruit above their head while they are surrounded by fruits and stand over a lobed-shell with the embossed signature reading “DH Chiparus”.

While they are compelling even by themselves, as an original perfectly matched pair they are absolutely stunning.

Condition Report:
Several large chips at the back of the pedestals; one pedestal missing an applied rectangular panel of onyx; scuffs and scratches throughout; a very fine presentation.
